STEPHEN D. ARNOLD, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO P. AND F. OORBIN, OF SAME PLACE.
Design 1V0. 3,049, dated Jlfay 26, 1868.
DESIGN FOR A CUPBOARD-LATCH.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, STEPHEN D. ARNOLD, of New Britain, in the county of Hartford, and State of Connecticut, have invented or produced a. new and original Design for Latches for Cupboards; and I do hereby declare the following to be a correct description of the same, reference being had to the annexed photograph of the parts composing said latch.
Figure 1 represents the design of the shape and configuration of the catch or nosing.
Figure 2 shows the latch itself with the porcelain button.
Figure 3, the screw that passes through the end of the latch, and on which i. swings.
Figura shows the plate of the latch, to which my invention especially relates.
The shape and configuration ofithe top, bottom, and inner end of this latch-plate are determined by the scrolls and leaves forming the ornamental surroundings of the plate.
The front or outer edge of said plate is nearly straight, but formed with a raised bar, a, behind which the latch, fig. 2, is passed, and within this the plate is formed with a semicircular configuration, b.
The shape of the opening 0, through which the screw, fig. 3, passes, is that of two half circles united by straight or nearly straight lines, so as to he elliptical.
The screw-holes z i are round.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design of the shape and configuration of the latch-plate, as described, and shown in fig. 4.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my signature, this seventh day of April, A. D. 1868.
S. D. ARNOLD.
