HEMMED FABRIC.
(Application lad Nov. 11, 1898.)
/lu/en for:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEROY F. BOOMER, OF CLEVELAND, OIIIO.
DESIGN FOR A HEMMED FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,126, dated January 31, 1899. Application filed November 11, 1898. Serial No. 696,182. Term of patent Si years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEROY F. BooMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced `a new and original Design for a I-Iemlned Fabric, of which the following is a specification, reference being had te the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The fabric which constitutes my design has a hein which produces a peculiarly ornamental and pleasing appearance.
The drawings clearly illustrate my fabric, wherein- Figure l is a View of its face or front side; Fig. 2, a back view, and Fig. 3 a perspective view showing the end edge.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material features of Iny design consist of a fabric having a bead formed on the front side some distance back from the edge and a fold caused by bending the fabric between the bead and the edge over onto the back side of the fabric and securing the extreme edge within the bead. Thus the extreme edge of the fabric at the heinmed side is invisible from either the front or back, While the bead gives the fabric a very pleasing appearance.
Referring to the parts by letters, A representis the fabric as a whole; a, the bead; a', the front side of the fold; a, the back side of the fold, and a3 the extreme edge, which is contained within the bead. Stitches B B2 eX- tend along each side of the bead through the fabric, the stitches B passing also through the fold 0.2 on the rear side. A thread B8 zigzags across the entrance to the bead on the back side of the fabric and receives the loops of the two threads B' and B2, whereby the appearance is as shown in the drawings-that is, an ordinary stitch on each side of the bead on the front side of the fabric and a zigzag stitch on the back side of the fabric across the entrance to the bead. III practice these stitches are made with a machine having two needles and one shuttle.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a heinmed fabric substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
LEROY F. BOOMER.
