UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ARTHUR A. MORAE, OF ATTLEBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,754, dated December 6, 1898.
Application filed November 14;, 1898. Serial No. 696,468. Term of patent 3- years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR A. McRAE, of Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Badge or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a front view of a badge, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of my newly-designed badge. Fig. 3 is a top view of the same.
The leading features of my design consist in the outline and configuration of a box presenting to the eye the appearance of the head of a sledge-hammer projecting from a flat back and a convex tapering stem extending from the head of the badge, presenting to the eye the appearance of a bait or handle projecting from the hammer-head.
In the drawings, a indicates the back-plate or surface of the head of the badge; 1), the
raised surface extending outward from the back-plate a and having the inclined sides I) b, the tapering surface b and the beveled edges 0 c. The back-plate a extends at a beyond the raised surface I) to break the vertical edge of this end of the head of the badge. The convex tapering stein d extends at right angle from the head of the badge, the whole presenting to the eye of the ordinary observer the appearance of a sledge-hammer and to the close observer the appearance of half of a sledge-hammer projecting from a flat back.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for a badge or similar article herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
ARTHUR A. MCRAE. Witnesses:
J OSEPH A. MILLER, J12, B. M. SIMMs.
