INVINZ'UFEI W WITNIEEIEI mm/gbw c5 72 lw UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS IV. PRETZER, OF ATTLEBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE JAMES E. BLAKE & COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A BACK FOR BRUSHES OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of DesignNo. 28,503, dated April 26, 1898.
A li atio fil d March 12, 1898. Serial No. 673,665- Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS W. PRETZER, of Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Back of a Brush or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing is a View of the back of a brush showing my design.
The leading feature of my design consists in the oblique panel on the main body of the back inclosed by raised foliated scrolls and the raised closely-grouped floral decorations of the rest of the back, in which the representation of flowers known as daisies and buttercups predominates, giving to the back the appearance of a closely-packed mass of raised flowers and leaves.
In the drawing, 0. indicates the main body, and b the handle, of the brush-back. The panel 2, inclosed by the foliated scrolls 3 and 4, extends obliquely across the center of the main body of the back of the brush. Near the end of the handle the floral ornament 5 resembles a fully-expanded buttercup; 6, a fully-developed daisy. Leaves and more or less developed wild flowers are interspersed with the larger flowers and cover the whole of the back outside the oblique scrolls inclosing the panel. The floral decorations are in high relief, giving to the oblique panel the appearance of a slightly-convex surface in a mass of flowers.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for the back of a brush or similar article, herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
