UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
VILLIAM F. LUDWIOK, OF BEAUMONT, KANSAS.
DESIGN FOR A GARDEN-HOE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,490, dated April 19, 1898.
Application lerl February 3, 1898. Serial No. 669,015. Term of patent 14 years.
of Kansas, have invented a new and original Design for a Garden-Hoe, of which the following is a specification.
The leading feature of my design for a garden-hoe consists of an inverted-U-shaped yoke and two pairs of curved arms extending in opposite directions from the terminals of said yoke.
A minor feature of the design consists in pairs of curved arms lying in parallel planes on each side of a yoke, a flat blade spanning the space between the terminals of the members of one pair of arms, and pointed blades at the terminals of the members of the other pair of arms.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a garden-hoe, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same.
As shown by the drawings, my design for a garden-hoe comprises an inverted- U -shaped yoke l, a pair of curved arms 2 3, extending in opposite directions from one terminal of the yoke, and a similar pair of curved arms 2' 3', extending in opposite directions from the other terminal of said yoke. The members of each pair of arms are in the same plane at right angles to the axial line of the yoke, or, in other words, the arms 2 3 or the arms 2 3' are in line with each other. The arms are each curved throughout their length, and the arms are curved inwardly toward the terminals of the yoke to have their outer edges intersect and produce the notches or recesses 4.
The flat blade 5 spans the space between the terminals of the arms 2 2 on one side of the yoke l, and said flat blade is held by the arms in an inclined position to the axial line of the yoke.
The arms 3 3', which lie on the opposite side of the yoke from the arms 2', carry the pointed blades 6 6, and these blades are inclined in the reverse direction to the dat blade 5.
The arms 2 2 on one side of the yoke are parallel to each other, and the arms 3 3 on the opposite side of the yoke are likewise parallel to each other.
The design for a garden-hoe herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM F. LUDWIOK.
