No. 28,115. Patented Jam l, 1898.

PATENT OFFICE.
OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A SKIRT-SUPPORTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,115, dated January 4, 1898. Application filed November 9, 1897. Serial No. 657,984. Term of patent 3! years.
To a, whom it may concern:
lie it known that I, WiLLmn J. FLEuixu, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of New York, in the county and State of Sew York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Skirt-Supporters, of which the following isa specification.
The design consists in the shape or configuration of the skirt-supporter which is illustrated in and may be seen from the accompanying drawing, showing a perspective view of a skirt-supporter.
As shown, this consists of a thin flat plate A, forming the body of the supporter, having straight parallel sides 1 1, which are connected by curved lines 2 2, bounding the lower corners, wit-h the base-line 3. From the upper edge of the plate A projections 13 B extend upwardly in the same plane as the plate A and then outwardly and downwardly in a plane parallel or nearly parallel to the plane of the plate A, so as to form the belt books or loops C C. The side lines 4 l 4 at of the projections B B are parallel, while the side lines 5 5 5 5 of the hooks C O gradually eonverge as they extend downward, so as to form tapered rounded points. From the lower part of the space between the projections B B a tapered slot exi ends downward into the body of the plate A, terminating in an enlarged opening It of a diameter greater than the width of the narrowest part of the slotD. The side lines 6 G of the slot E are similar curves, which, starting from the lower termini of the inner side lines l l of the projections B B, gradually converge until they meet the bounding-line 7 of the opening E, which is circular.
The design is pleasing to the eye, inasmuch as it presents a graceful combination of lines, and at the same time its form and proportions give an attractive impression of solidity and security.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a skirt-supporter, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 6th day of November, A. D. 1807.
\VM. J. FLEMING.
