CLARENCE C. CIIRISMAN, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR A BlCYCLE-FRAM E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,901, dated November 23, 1897. Application filed September 7,1897. Serial No. 650,854- Term of patent 14 years.
Bicycle-Frames, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a bicycle- Fig. 2 is a rear elevation taken looking in the direction indicated by the arrow 2 in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a section taken approximately on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a cross-section on the line 4 4.05 Fig. 2.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a steering-post socket or tube, a bar extending horizontally baekwardly from the upper end backwardly and downwardly from the lower end of said socket at an angle of approximately thirty degrees relative to the first-mentioned bar, a brace connecting the rear ends of said first and second bars and set at approximately right angles relative to said second bar, a lower front fork extending backwardly and downwardly from the rear end of said second bar and in alinement with said second bar,
a seat-mast socket extending downwardly and slightly backwardly from the rear end of said first-mentioned bar, a second fork extending downwardly from the lower end of said seatmast socket and in alinement therewith, and
connections between the lower ends of said forks.
Referring by numerals to the drawings, 5 is the steering-post socket or tube; 6, the horizontal bar; 7, the second bar; 8, the brace; 9, the lower front fork; 10, the seat-mast socket, and 11 the second fork.
The arms 12 extend from the lower ends of the arms of the'lower front fork, the arms 13 extend from the lower ends of the arms of the second fork, and the flat plates 11 connect the arms 12 to the arms 13, thus forming the connections between the lower ends of the forks. The trunnions 15 project outwardly one from each of the plates 11. The arms 16 project downwardly from the plates 14, and the arms 17 and 18 project backwardly from said plate, said arms 17 and 18 being parallel with each other and forming the slots 19. The segments 20 connect the outer ends of the arms 12 and 13, the segments 21 connect the outer ends of the arms 16 to the outer ends of the arms 12, the segments 22 connect the outer ends of the arms 16 with the outer ends of the arms 17, and the segments 23 connect the outer ends of the arms 13 to the outer ends of the arms 18, all of said segments being arranged in the form of a circle relative to each other.
I claim- The design for a bicycle-frame, substantially as herein shown and described.
