Description

OF E) 37066? DESIGN.
L. G. BELOUD. FRAME FOR BED LOUIIGES. No. 27,666. Patented Sept. 21, 1897.
UNITED STATES LEON (I. IIEIIOUD, OF SAN FRANCIS PATENT OFFICE.
CO, (JIUIIFORNIA, ASSIGXOII 'l l 'lIlF.
DESIGN FOR A FRAME FOR BED-LOUNGES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,666, dated September 21, 1897.
Application filed July 6, I397 Strilll 1 Term of patent? years.
To all whom it may concern..-
lie it known that I, LEox G. .BELot'n, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bed- Lounge Frames; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The accompanying drawing represents in perspective a view of a bod-lounge frame before it is upholstered, showing my new design.
The leading or material features of my design eonsist of a box-base closed on all four sides and open at the top for the entire length and breadth and having the front side set inward from the vertical at an angle across the front and the ends also set inward with a like inclination, so as to throw the lower portion of the box inward under the frame at the front and the foot. Against the inclined faces of the box are tixed ornamental blocks cut on ornamental outlines and carved or otherwise ornamented on the face to simulate legs. These blocks or legs are set at the corners of the box both 011 the front face and on the end of the box and are carried down below or nearly to the bottom of the box, so that their bottom ends or feet, projecting from the slanting face of: the box, form brackets for casters, by which the base is raised slightly from the floor.
On the front and end the box is finished with a convex or rounded molding-strip fixed against the outside above the legs and carried across the front and returned around the end. From this strip the fringe or upholstery of the finished lounge will hang down between the legs, effectively concealing the box front view.
The seat-frame resting upon and supported i by the top edges of the box all around is attaehed to the rear side of the box by hinges, l upon which the seat turns up to give access L to the box, and to the rear side of the seatframe is attached by hinges a back-frame, the peculiar and material features of which are its rounded ends.
From the rear side and at each end of the lounge-frame a fixed bar extends horizontally baclnvard under the back-frame. This bar or rear extension forms a point of attachment for a leg, and also furnishes a fixed ledge or lower or inner end of the backframe when that part is turned down horizontally.
In the accompanying drawing,
support for the showing I these parts and features, A indicates the boxbase, a a the inwardly-set front and ends thereof, and I3 13 the legs on the said base.
C) is the molding-strip across the front and l on the ends.
I D is a seat-frame.
E is the back-frame, and E the rounded ends of that frame.
F is a horizontal bar or extension under the back-frame.
G is the leg that supports the back-frame.
II is the pillow-fran'le, that is set on the head or upper end of the seat-frame in lounges of this class or description.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a bedlounge frame, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I atlix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LEON (4-.
IKEIIOUD.
