The panels are about the same width around 2o the ewer, which is symmetrical in cross-seetion. Toward the top of the body it curves sharply inward at c c' 0"', d'0., and narrows to form the neck N, which curves outward at L to forni the lip and at II, to which the handle is attached. Between the neck and body of the pitcher is a band B, nearly horizontal in position and divided into sections or panels p 11'11"19", &e., by means of the prolongations of the lines b D' L", &e.
The base I) of the ewer terminates in points 3o d d, the., irregularly disposed, which touch the surface upon whieh the cwer rests in the horizontal plane. rlhe base is provided with upwardly-proj ecting slightlycmbossed ornamentation resembling oak-leaves.
Each panel of the ewer is provided at its base with an ornamentation O of conventionalized oak-leaves in relief, and each alternate panel has such ornamentation O' smaller than the one next to it. At its top each panel 4o is provided with downwaidly-projecting enibossed ornamentations Q of about the same size and resembling a Ilner-de-lis somewhat in style, though composed of forms like oakleaves.
The handle E a reverse curve provided with outwa1dlyproject ing knobs.
