UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAI\I E. BAXTER, OF FRANKFURT, KENTUCKY.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR PANS OR LIDS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,270, dated June 29, 1897.
Application filed May 5, 1897. Serial No. 635,269. Term of patent '7 years.
T0 and whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WI LIAM E. BAXTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Frankfort, in the county of Franklin and State of Kentucky, have invented and produced anew and original Design for Handles for Lifting Pans, Stove-Lids, and the Like, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, showing the same, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 is an edge view, of a handle embodying my design.
The leading feature of my design consists in an upturned hook-like part A near the end of and lying between the side edges of the handle for lifting pans, Skillets, &e., which are slotted to receive the hook. The side edges around the opening brace the pan when the hook engages the slot, and the device is always cool as a handle.
The handle B has its side edges curved at b and has at one end the looped part or frame 0, inclosing an opening D, from the upper edge of which the hook A is upturned. At its opposite end the handle is narrowed and prolonged at E, forming a tang-like extension. This tang-1ike projection is made to fit the slot in stove-lids and is designed asa lidlifter. This handleis stamped outof one piece of metal and is made long enough so that it is also utilized as a poker.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a handle for lifting pans, stove-lids and the like as set forth.
WILLIAM E. BAXTER.
