In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a guard embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section on the line 2 2 of Fig. l.
The essential features of this design embrace a continuous flanged margin compris ing two substantially parallel longitudinal members of unequal length connected at front by a semicircular member and at rear by a diagonally-disposed member extending from the end of the longer upper longitudinal member to the end of the shorter longitudinal member in the form of an ogee curve.
A guard or shield of my design consists of a marginal frame the edges of which are continuous and unbroken and which comprises straight and substantiallyparallel upper and lower sides a ct, and a front circular side a which forms a continuation of and joins the upper and lower sides a a. The upper side a of said marginal frame is longer than, and the rear end thereof extends beyond, the rear end of the lower side a, and the rear extremities thereof are connected by a rear side piece a which forms an ogee curve.
A guard or shield of my design also comprises a flange a which projects laterally from the edge of the upper and front sides a and a of the marginal frame, so that it will extend over the driving-chain when said guard or shield is applied to a bicycle. The space within the marginal frame is occupied by a Web of open-work (t I claim- The design for a sprocket-wheel and driving-chain guard or shield for bicycles, substantially as herein shown and described.
