JAMES WV. NCO-ABE, 01 NEW YORK, N. Y
DESIGN FOR A PHOTOGRAPHIC MOUNT.
$PECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 26,760, dated March 16, 1897.
Application filed January 16, 1896. Serial No. 575,781. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whont it nuty concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES XV. McOABn, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Photographic Mounts, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, showing the same.
Figure 1 is a plan view of a photographic mount embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a central vertical section slightly exaggerated.
The leading features of my design relate to the ornamentation of the surface of the margin and also to that of the border.
A is the central portion or panel of the mount or support and upon which the photograph is to be pasted. Surrounding this panel or part is a rectangular border 13, beyond which lies a rectangular margin 0. The border is very slightly depressed below the plane of the margin and very slightly elevated above the plane of the panel. At'the inner edge of the border is a small bead b and at the outer edge is a slightly larger bead c. The border is ornamented on its surface, between the beads, by a multiplicity of very slightly elevated undulating portions d, (shown in White in the drawings,) and also by a multitude of hue raised ribs e. (Illustrated by the parallcl black broken lines.)
The margin 0 is ornamented by substantially the same meansthatis tosay, its sur- 1? ace is provided with slightly-raised Wave-like portions f (illustrated by the sinuous White lines) and also with innumerable thread-like ribs 9. (illustrated by the parallel obliquelyarranged black broken lines.)
The entire ornamentation is produced by embossing the surface of the paper or cardboard oi which the mount is composed.
W'hile the ornamentation of the border and of the margin are both features of my invention, the embellishment of the latter is the more striking and important, and hence the former may be left plain, or otherwise ornament-ed, without departing from the gist of the design, which relates, primarily, to the margin.
What I claim is The design for a photographic mount substantially as herein shown and described.
