DESIGN FOR A GATE-LATCH.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 24,288, dated May 7, 1895.
Application filed April 10, 1895. Serial No. 545,246- Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I. JAMES HENRY SWIN- DELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elytou, in the countyofJeiferson and State of Alabam a, have invented a new and original Design for Gate-Latches,of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for gate latches; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.
The leading feature of the design resides in a gate latch having a semi-circular body plate, an inclined V-shaped figure projected from one side and the curved edge of the body plate, the outer edge of said V-shaped figure being bounded by parallel semielliptical lines; a vertical rib-like portion projected from the central bottom portion of the V-shaped figure at one side of the body plate, and a cylindrically shaped enlargement located at the upper edge of said rib-like projection.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a gate-latch embodying the herein-described desigu. Fig. 2 is a top view of the latch. Fig. 3 is a side view of the latch.
Referring particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the gate latch embodying the new design. The latch l is provided with a semi-circular body plate 2 from one side and the curved edge of which is projected a V-shaped figure 3. The outer edge of the projected V- shaped figure 3 is formed between or bounded by the parallel semi-elliptical lines 4, and projected upwardly from the central bottom portion of the V-shaped figure 3 is a vertical rib-like portion 5, at the upper edge of which is located a cylindrically shaped enlargement 6, having therein the circular perforation 7.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a gate latch herein shown and described.
