FREDERICK C. AVERY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,482, dated July 17, 1894.
Application filed March 19, 1894- Serial No. 504,322. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK C. AVERY, acitizen of the United States, residingin Chicage, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and original Design for Bicycle-Frames, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The drawing shows a side elevation of my newly designed bicycle frame.
The characteristic feature of my design consists in a bicycle frame the surface of the members whereof is corrugated or fluted longitudinally.
In the drawing A A represent the various members of the bicycle frame to which my design may be applied. As clearly shown their exterior surfaces are fluted or corrugated longitudinally, a representing the ridges and b the hollows formed by the corrugations. A 20 striped appearance is thus given to the members even when covered with plain nickel plate or a uniform color of japan, but the striped elfect may be intensified by coloring the ridges in one color and coloring the hollows either in another color, or in a different shade of the same color. The several mem bers stand at different angles and consequently catch the light in a different manner, thus adding much to the attractive appearance of the frame.
I claim- The design for bicycle frames, snbstantially as shown and described.
FREDERICK O. AVERY. Witnesses:
