DESIGN FOR A METALLIC FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,821, dated October 3, 1893. Application tiled September 9. 1893. Seriai Nn.485,193. T r of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. MCGILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Riverdale, New York, in the county of New York, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Metallic Fasteners,of which the following is a specification.
This design has for its object to provide a novel and ornamental metallic fastener and consists in a fastener having a square or quadrangular shaped head with rounded corners and provided with a convex upper surface having embossed thereon escalopshaped ribs radiating from a plain center and terminating in an outer dependent fluted edge, and extending from its under surface two superimposed prongs.
The design is illustrated by the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a plan view of the top of the fastener showing its embossed upper surface; Fig. 2 a side view of the fastener and Fig. 3 is a perspective side view of the fastener showing its under surface.
In the drawings the numeral 1 indicates the square convex head, numeral 2 its rounded corners, numeral 3 its plain center, numeral 4 its radiating embossed ribs, numeral 5 its fluted dependent edge, and numeral 6 indicates its under surface from the center of which extend two superimposed prongs 7 and 8 of different length.
The design provides a novel and ornamental metallic fastener which presentsa striking and characteristic appearance.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a metallic fastener having a square or quadrangular shaped head provided with a convex upper surface having embossed thereon escalop-shaped ribs radiating from a plain center and terminating in an outer dependent fluted edge, and extending from its under surface two superimposed prongs, substantialiy as shown and described.
