UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
lVILL F. HOLBROOK, OF SElVARD, NEBRASKA.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,496, dated April 26, 1892. Application led February 1, 1892. Serial No. 419,998. Term of patent 7 yearn.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILL F. HoLBRooK, of Seward, Seward county, Nebraska, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Souvenir Spoons, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention relates to what are known as souvenir spoons, and the leading features of my design are the head and bust of a man located at the upper end of thehandlc of the spoon, a circular strap surrounding a horseshoe, and an open-work ornament located also at the upper end of the handle of the spoon, a hypodermic syringe forming thespoon-handie, a pictorial illustration of t\\'o men and located in the bowl of the spoon, and representations of tobacco-pipcs, drinking-bottles, opium-bottles, pipes and a package of cigarcites, a plugr of chewing-tobacco, and drinking-glass variously disposed about the spoonhandle, as hereinafter fully described.
lu order that the nature of my design may be clearly understood, I will proceed to de scribe it with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l isa front elevation of a spoon embodying my design. Fig. isa rear elevation of the same.
ln the said dra\\ings,l designates thc liandle of the spoon, the said handle being in the l'orin of a liypodermie syringe. At the upper end of this handle isa circular ligure Ji, simulatingr a .strap or belt, the ends of which are connected by .a ligure l, simulating.,r a buckle. 'lhis circular ligure apparently rests upon thtl knob Orbutton nf the hypoderxuic syringe, which apparently constitutes the handle of the spoon, and within the strap is a figure simulating a horseshoe 5. This horseshoe apparently embraces an open-Work ornament 6, and immediately above the circular ligure 3 and apparently supporting a ligure 7, simulating the head and bust; of a man, the face of this figure being turned obliquely toward the front side of the spoon. The bowl 8 of the spoon contains upon its front or concave surface a pictorial representation. At one side of the upper end of the syringe, which apparently constitutes the handle of the spoon, is a ligure 10, simulating a package of cigarettes, a plug of chewing-tobacco crossed with a tobaceopipe. At the opposite side of the upper end of thehandie or syringe isa ligure 11, simulating a tobacco-pipe and several cigars. At. one side of the opposite end of the syringe, which apparently forms the handle of the spoon, is a ligure if, simulatingr an opium-pipe, a. bottle, and a small syringe. At the opposite side of the lower end of the syringe, which appar cntly constitutes the handle ofthe spoon, isa figure 13, simulating a bottle. a flask, and a drinking-glass.
llaving thus described my design, what l claim is- The design for a spoon, as shown and described.
ln testimonywhereof l atlix mysignatnrcin the presence of tu'o witnesses.
