UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
'WILLIAM FRANKLIN BOWEN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,443, dated April 5, 1892. Application tiled February 23, 1892. SerialpliqA 422,590. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, WILLIAM FRANKLIN BOWEN, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Worlds Fair Badge, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing shows a front view of .my newly-designed badge.
The leading feature of my design consists of a spherical map of the world or globe suspended within an encircling ring from a medal.
In the drawing, A is the medal, which in the instance illustrated consists of a disk, which bears imprinted upon it a bust of Columbus in the central portion and around the margin the words IVorlds Columbian Exposition.
B is the globe or spherical map of the world, which is mounted upon its polar axis in the ring C, the latter being suspended by a link from the lower edge of the medal. I sometimes prnt upon the globe the words Vorlds Fair, and these words are shown in the drawing` placed equatorially on the map.
D in the drawing indicates a ribbon, by means of which the badge can be attached to the buttonhole of a wearer, if desired; but I make no claim to the words Worlds Fair nor to the words Worlds Columbian Exposition, and these Words may be omitted or replaced by others.
I claim- The design for the Worlds Fair badge, herein shown and described, the same con- 35 sisting of the medal, the ring suspended therefrom, and the globe within said ring.
