DESIGN FOR A GRAND-PIANO LEG.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,248, dated December 22, 1891.

Application iiled November 17, 1891. Serial No. 412,211. Term of patent 7 years.

To all whoml it may concern.:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. BIGELow, acitizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and original Design for Grand-Piano Legs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to r o which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to an original design for grand-piano legs.

The leading features of my design are an upper portion with a representation of a panel on its outer face having braided work thereon, a central portion in the forni of a globe, having a series of circular panels thereon and carved decorations in the spaces adjacent to said panels, and a lower portion of zo a generally-oblong forni having representations of vertical grooves thereon.

The accompanying drawing represents my design.

A represents the upper portion of a grandpiano leg, B the central portion, and C the lower portion. The outer face of the`portion A is made to represent a panel a, having a border b, said border being continued at its center into the panel a and made to reprosent braided Work c. The ends of the portion A are carved to represent two scrolls (l d', one within the other.

Immediately beneath the .portion A the leg is carved to represent a recessed or grooved portieri e, and beneath the portion e is a spherical body j'. The spherical portion or globe f has represented thereon aseries of circular panels g g. A border 7L is represented above and below the spherical portion f, which border is continued to form a border for the circular panels g g. Beneath the spherical portion f is represented a carved ring,Ir z'. At the top of the lower portion C is represented a ring j of small balls, and beneath this ringja series of vertical grooves is represented. y
