DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design- No. 21,101,dated October 6, 1891.

Application filed September 14. 1891. Serial No. 405,701- Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a Design for a Font 0f Printing-'lype, of which the following is a specification.

My design for a font of printing-type is fully illustrated in the accompanying typographical impression.

The general feature of the design is the peculiar lower termination of the majority of the letters of the upper case, the letters of the font being light, but having a solid face. Each of the letters of the upper case have their upper portions on or about the same line, while the lower termination of the abovementioned letters differ. The letters F, G, I, O, U, V, IV, X, Y, and Z terminate on the lower line, while the other letters have extensions which are below the line. A, 0, 1,11, K, L, M, P, Q, R, and I have curved ends, which extend to the right, and the letters B, D, J, and S have curved ends extending to the left. The cross-bars of the letters A, B, H, and K are curved.

The lower-case letters, as well as the numerals, are in keeping with the general design.

I claim The design fora fontof printing-type, substantially as described, and as shown in the accompanying typographical impression.
