w *Mw UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SllYE FINKELSTEIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR TH E ORNAMENTATION OF A NECKSCARF.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,642, dated March 31, 1891.
Application filed December 20, 1890. Serial No. 375,363- Term of patent 7 years.
'10 all whom it may concern.-
lie it known that I, SHYE FINKELsTEIN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of Made-Up Scarfs and Neckties, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part thereof.
My invention relates to a new and original design fortheornamentation ofn1ade-up neck soarfs and ties. The object thereof is to relieve the baldness and bareness of the central knot portion in a made-up scarf.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of a scarf ornamented with my design, Fig. 2 being a cross-section in line a; a: and Fig. 3 a longitudinal section in line 3 y of Fig. 1.
My design consists in the ornamentation, as shown in the drawings, of the face of the knot portion 1 of the scarf, with a has-relief triangular in form, having its base 0 at the upper end of the scarf substantially parallel with its top line. This triangular figure is subdivided into three spaces by a line which,
starting from a central point on one side of the triangle, extends substantially parallel with the opposite side thereof to the base-line c, and by a second line wliiclnstarting from a central point on the last-mentioned divisionline, extends thence substantially at a right angle therewith to the middle of the proximate outer line of the'triangle. The lower subdivision of the triangle is thus made to assume the form of a diamond-shaped quadrilateral, and its lower corner, constituting the apex (l of the triangular has-relief, is fashioned to represent the head of a living creature having a nose or bill which defines the point of the triangle.
I claim as new- The design herein shown and described for the ornamentation of a scarf.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
SllYE FINKELSTEIN.
