DESIGN.
J. PROEGER. summon ORNAMENTATION 0P VESSELS.
Patented Mar. 11, 1890.
I I III UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JULIUS PROEGER, OF UNIONTOIVN, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO THE THOMPSON GLASS COMPANY, (LIMITED,) OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR THE SURFACE ORNAMENTATION OF VESSELS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,694, dated March 11, 1890.
Application filed January 25, 1890. Serial No. 338,158. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUS IROEGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Uniontown, in the county of Fayette and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Table-Vessels; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
This invention has relation to designs for tableware, and is particularly adapted to glassware.
This design consists in the peculiar and novel surface ornamentation of table-ware hereinafter described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of a glass vessel embodying my design. Figs 2 and 3 are similar views of modifications within the spirit of my invention.
The design, in its essential features, consists in the surface ornamentation of a vessel by a series of raised bands a a, encircling it from the bottom to or nearly to the top. The bands a are divided into or consist of a number of sections or blocks 1) I), each of said sections having two parallel edges 0 c and two converging edges 6, each series of sections breaking joints with the oontiguousbands or series of sections, so that the parallel sides or edges of. one of the sections will be at the middle of the sections above and below it. The corners f of each of the sections are sloped or rounded off, so as to prevent an abrupt point. The lower edge of the plain portion 1* is also rounded off for the same purpose.
In Fig. 3 of the drawings I have shown the bands or sections a a as running around the vessel in diagonal lines.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is- The design for surface ornamentation of a vessel, consisting of parallel bands composed of a series of flat sections, each at an angle to the preceding section of the same band, the sections of contiguous bands breaking joints, and the upper and lower edges of each section being curved, as shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereuntoset my hand, this 16th day of December, 1889.
JULIUS PROEGER.
