DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,257, dated August 6, 1889. Application filed May 6, 1889. Serial No. 309,822. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom, zit may concern.-

Beit known that I, GEORGE FREDERICK JORDAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and original Design for Type, of which the following is a specification.

My design forafontof type iselearly shown in the annexed typographical impression.

The leading feature of the design is the character of the light lines of the let-ters, these being mneh heavier than usual in type of this general style, so that the letters present an appearance somewhat resembling that of solid letter typothat is to say, type having all the lines of the letters of uniform thickness-this appearance, however, being gained Without losing the graceful character of the type, due to a distinction between the lines of the letters. The general heavy charaeter of the light line is carried out in the figures as well as in the let-ters.

I claim- The design for a font of type, as described and shown in the annexed typographiealimpression.
