Description

DESIGN.
J. HOPSON, Jr.
RADIATOR.
Sill-lll., li?
iii, D.. 52, aib/4 e f 2. waw M @m UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN HOPSON, JR., OF NEW LONDON, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A RADIATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,832, dated January 1, 1889.
Application filed August 31, 1888. Serial No. 284,289. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN HOPSON, Jr., of New London, county of New London, and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Radiator, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure l is aview in side elevation of a radiator embodying my new and original design, and Fig. 2 is a View thereof in end ele- Vation.
It should be understood that the radiator may be of any length and any height.
A series of similar sections or parts are represented at AB C D E dsc. Each section has a boss or projectioma aA and b b, at top and bottom, showinga free open space between any two sections and between the top and bottom bosses. Thebosses are of about the same size, and when united give the appearance of a heavy line attop and bottom, which adds to the general appearance of the radiator. Each section is made np of four uprights, as indicated in the end view, Fig'. 2, markedc ol ef, which join the top and bottom bosses, a slight space being leftbetween these uprights, and each being shaped after the fashion of a rope made up of heavy strands. The two uprights c and d are apparently joined at top and bottoni by a union-curve, as are also the upright-s e and f, and in end View the two bosses appear to be located between the two pairs of uprights thus joined. The uprights d and e area trifle wider than those outside them, or c and f, as indicated in Fig. 1. The design thus constituted is neat and attractive and quite ornamental.
Having now fully described my design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The herein-described design for a radiator, consisting of a series of similar sections, each having top and bottom bosses, and connecting-uprights with inclined ornamentations in imitation of rope strands, open spaces being left between the uprights and between the lines of top and bottom bosses, as shown.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand in thc presence of two witnesses.
JOHN HOPSON, JR. Witnesses:
WILLIAM BELCHER, WM. J. DE MAURIAo.
