DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Destgn No. 17,679, dated September 6, 1887.
Application filed May 10, 1887. Serial Noi 237,773. Termiefipnicnt 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known thatl, NICHOLAS CAEMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spring ield, in the county of Clark, State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Badges or Charms, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming partlthereof.
Figure l is a view looking at one face ofmy newly-designed badge or charm, and Fig. 2 a view looking at the other face thereof.
My design is double sided or faced, and it consists of three triangular plates,A,arranged approximately equidistantly apart,and having ornamental borders at the edges thereof and on both sides, as seen in both figures.
On the side represented in Fig. 1 two ove1 lapping triangles or triangular plates, B and O,
c are placed upon the adjacent corners of the plates A, and are ornameuted with any suitable border. Represented upon these triangles B and C is a lily, while encircling said triangles and resting upon the triangles A is a ring or circularband, D, suitably ornamented. Outside of said band,and ruiming from one of the plates A to each of the other plates A, are portions E of a wreath. The triangle B passes behind the triangle C in Fig. 2. and the latter triangle in said Iigure bears the representations of a skeleton-head with crossed bones beneath it in one corner, and in the other a book resting upon a pedestal and having letters thereon and two swords crossed about the book, while near the lower corner is the representation of an open book Withl asword laid across it. Cross-swords E appear upon both sides, being the same swords. Mounted upon the upper plate, A, is an ornament, F, and a helmet and visor, G and H, with an eagle standing on the helmet and having several links extending from it.
The principal features of my design are the outer triangles, the band upon them, and the overlapping triangles resting upon the corners of the outer trianglesand encircled by the band, and suit-able inscriptions and ornaments upon the several features.
I clai 111-- 1. The design for badges or charms herein shown and described, the same consisting of the three triangles A A A, the two triangles B C, and of a band` D.
2. The design for badges or charms herein shown and described, consisting of the triangles A A A, the circular band D, portions of a wreath extending between the triangles A A A, crossed swords E, asuperimposed helmet, G, a visor, H, and an eagle, the triangles B C having a representation of a lily on them at` one side of the badgeor charm and the representations shown on the triangle C at the other side.
