DESIGN FOR A BELT.
SPECIFICATION forming par: ofDesign No. 16.495. dated February 2, 1886A Application filed November 1, 185.45.
To au whom t may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES H. BUCHANAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Design for Belts; and I do hereby declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact` description of the invention, reference being had tothe accompanying drawing,whieh forms partrof this specification, in which the figli reis an elevation illustrating my design.
My design relates to belts which are worn as an article of dress, but which may be used for any purpose to which they are found adaptable.
My design for a belt consists of a series of longitudinal ridges or parallel laps, each having a braided configuration or surface appearance.
My invention consists in a design for a belt having a surface showing braiding or plaiting, such as plaited or braided straw, real or imitation, arranged so as to produce a coniigu ration exhibiting parallel lines or strips which overlap each other, forming ridges or laps. Referring to the accompanying drawing, A represents a belt embodying my design` having a series of ridges or laps, B B, each of which has a braided or plaited appearance or surface, said ridges beingr produced by overlapping strips which extend in parallel lines longitudinally 0f the belt.
The design fora belt herein shown and described, the same consisting of a beltlprovided upon its exterior surface or outer face with an ornamentation representing a series of longitudinal parallel ridges or laps in conventional imitation of braids or plaits, as set forth.
