Description

UESIGN.
H. W. MANSUR.
HOPPER FOR OLOSBTS.
N0.16,i39. Patented June 30,1885.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DESIGN FOR A HOPPER FOR CLOSETS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,139, dated June 30,1885,
Application filed April 1?, 1:55.
To a]! whom it may concern.-
ile it known that l, HENRY \Y. MANSUR, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have originated and inrented a new and useful Design for Hoppers for \Yatcrtllosets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear. and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in whieh Figure l is a plan view, and Fig. 2 isa vertical section.
This design has relation to hoppers for water-closets; and it consists in the novel form and eontigural ion thereof, as herein shown and described.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating this design, the letter A designates the hopper, having the ellipsoidal cavity B, whereof the horizontal elements from the upper portion to the opening or mouth C of the tubular portion D are elliptical and arranged with reference to an oblique central line indicated by dotted lines at 13, said line being inclined forward and upward. This design provides an ellipsoidal cavity, whereof the horizontal elliptical elements trend forward from the lower to the upper portion, whereby the rear portion of the curved wall is made nearly vertical, and this curved wall as it extends forward expands outward and upward, gradually becoming larger, so that the walls increase in obliquity from the rear forward or more Term of patent 14 years.
vertical portion forward. 'Ihe upper portion of the wall of the hopper is curved upon concave lines in vertical section, and the lower portion of said wall, which merges into the wall of the tubular portion, is in similar section curred upon convex lines. The upper portion of the hopper is formed with an int wardlyanddownwardlyextcndingskirtflange, as indicated at Iflsaid flange extending around the upper portion in elliptical form, corre sponding to that of the upper portion of the body of the hopper.
Having described this design.what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhc design for a watereloset hopper where in the bowlorhopper gradually expands from the tubular discharge portion in ellipsoidal 5t form, the horizontal elliptical elements having their centers in an oblique line extending upward and forward from the center of the mouth of the tubular portion, and the wall of which is, from above downward, concave in its up per portion and convex in the lower portion, which niergesinto the wall of the tubular portion, as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I afiix my signature in presence of 60 two witnesses.
HEXRY \V. MANSUR.
