To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that 1, CHARLES H. BEEBE, of the city of Norwich, county of New London, and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new Design for Ornamentation of Builders Hardware; and I do declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, to bee. full, clear, and exact description of the same, said drawings forming a part of the specification.

This invention relates to the ornamentation of that class of nierchandise,commonly known as builders hardware, which has one or more surfaces exposed to view, my immediate object being to produce a design which shall add to the beauty of the article to which it is applied, but, being easily molded, will add nothing to cost of making said article.

My new design consists, in brief, of a groundwork of leaves within a raised plain border, said foliated ground being relieved by a figure of general rectangular form, (see a,) which may appear in the design either one or more times, according to the size and shape of the 25 article to which the design is applied. The

leaves which form the field or groundwork are so arranged that they overlap each other,like fish-scales or the plates on a coat of mail.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 shows my new design as applied to a knob, the groundwork being displayed concentrically around the rectangular figure a, before referred to. Fig. 2 shows the same design,so disposed that it may be applied to a lock-front. Fig. 3 shows the same design applied to butts.

= The rectangular figure a is formed of a raised ribbon interlaced within itself, as shown in the several figures, and has around its center a raised circle or ring.

I claim- The design for ornamentation of builders hardware, consisting of a field of overlapping leaves, combined withone or more rectangular figures, a, displayed within a raised border, as shown and described.
