To all whom it may concern:

. Be it known that I, Wmrnnor L. JACOBS, of East Orange, New Jersey, have invented a new' and original Designfor-Oarpets, of which the following is a-specifieation, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.v

' The in vention relates to a design to be worked into or upon snfaoes, such as carpets orsirni xo lar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configmotion and grouping of figures herein specifi- 'ealiy shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet, showing my new design. 15 The ground consists of an irregular network of angular stems bearing variouslyshaped figures, as shown. Over this ground, and distinct from it, is asystem of gem figures, some larger, some smaller, as shown. These geinsmay be connected by stem-work. In the photograph they are represented as having no stem-connections.

I claim-- Ihe design for a carpet, substantially as shown and described.
