.To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, CLARENCE S. NATHAN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of NewYoI k, have invented and pro dnced a new and original Design forGalendars, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawing.
This design is intended to be used for a calendar; and it consists in a configuration representing a view of a locomotive, having characters indicating the days of the week and month and the name of the month in the parts of the locomotive or its accessories.
I prefer to an ange said design substantially in the manner shown in the accompanying drawing, in which A represents the locomotive; B, a tender, and G a car following it. On one side of the locomotive is represented a flag, D, in which appears the day of the week. In the center of the end of the boiler is shown the day of the month, E, and the name of the month, G, is shown in the upper bar of the cowcatcher. 1n the center of the head-light and both cylinder-heads are shown eyelet-holes. At the sides of the design are represented va- Term of patent 7 years.
rious accessories, as fences, telegraph-poles, foliage, 850.; but these are not essential parts of the design, nor are the eyelet-holes in the headlight and cylinder-head.
It is evident that the configuration of this design may be varied considerably without departing from the essential features thereof.
What I claim as new is 1. A design for a calendar, consisting of a representation of a locomotive, on portions of which appear characters representing dates, as shown and described.
2. The design for a calendar, herein shown, consisting of a locomotive with a flag having on it characters representing the day of the week, the center of the end of the boiler having on it characters indicating the day of the month, and the upper part of the cow-catcher having on it characters naming the month, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CLARENCE S. NATHAN.
