DESIGN FOR A FANCY CARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,170, dated August 8, 1882.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it. known that l, SAMUEL GARRE, of Brooklyn, in the count of Kings and S ate of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Fancy Cards, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which makes a part of this specification, and which fully shows the nature of my design.
The object of my invention is to furnish an improved design of fancy card for Christmas and other purposes; and it consists ofa main part in the form of a palette provided with raised pufi's, and with an interior raised center panel for a picture or other suitable ornaineir tation, and with a tie passing through the opening of the palctteshaped main part.
Referring to the drawing, A represents the body of my improved fancy card, which is made of stiff paper or pasteboard and out in the shape of a palette, with the usual opening, a, for the thumb. The body A is covered with silk or other suitable fabric and provided with a silk fringe, B, along its outer circumference. A raised panel, (J, is arranged at the center of the main portion A, and made to correspond in its general shape therewith. This panel 0 is ornamented in an suitable manner, according to the object for which the fanc card is designed. At one side of the center panel, U,
are arranged a number of raised tufts, D, of raw silk or olhersnitable material, which tufts are preferably made in different colors, so as to imitate the spots of color applied by painters Term of patent at years.
to the. palette. A tie, E, of silk or other material, is applied to the card by being passed through the thuinb'openinga ol' the main portion A and panel U, so as to give the appearance of connecting them together. The tie 1 imparts a certain finish to the card, which forms an elegant ornament for the mantel piece, and is suitable for Uhristmas, Easter, and other occasions.
Having thus described m5 invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The design fora fancy card, consisting of a palette-shaped main part or body, A, of a raised ornamented center panel, U, and of raised tufts D at one side thereof, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design fora fancz, card, consisting of a palette-shaped main part or body, A, having an exterior fringe, B, of an interior raised and ornamented panel, U, and of raised tufts D of different colors between the panel and fringe, substantially as shown and described.
