DESIGN FOR STOCKING FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,690, dated March 16, 1880.
Application filed November 29, 1879. Term of patent at years.
To all whom itmagconcern:
Be it known that I, JOHN E. HANIFEN, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have originated and designed an Ornamental Stocking Fabric, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration, making part of this specification.
a represents the plain ground of a piece of full-length or half hose.
b represen tsa series of parallel plain stitches, alternating with a series of parallel tuckstitches, c. The plain stitches are continuous lines and the tuck-stitches broken lines. Tuckstitches d, formingdots, are interposed between the plain stitches b.
The clock at the front of the hose or stocking is formed of a zigzag scroll, 0, with a wave,
f, ateach side, the scroll having a knot or head, 20 e, and each wave a knot or head,f, the whole forming a neat, tasty, and attractive design.
The fabric is produced by the usual plainstitch and tuck cams.
What I claim as my invention is 1. The ornamental design for a stocking fabric, consisting of theplain ground u, having continuous lines of plain stitches b, alternating with broken lines of tuck-stitches c, substantially in the manner above described 0 and illustrated.
2. The design for clock at the front of a stocking, as herein set forth and illustrated.
