To all 'whom 'it may concern:

Be itknown that I, GEORGE L. WrapswonTH, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to neck-tie holders of the type shown, and has for its particular objects the provision of a unitary device which is adapted to securely retain either cravats or bow ties, and yet permit of the ready removal of the same as required for use. Tn many of the constructions of this general type as heretofore provided, it has been customary to provide pegs or rings for the reception of the ties. The former, while permitting of the convenient application and removal of a tie therefrom, are unsatisfactory in that they do not positively retain the tie against displacement. The latter, on the other hand, have exactly the opposite function since while the displacement of the ties is adequately prevented, yet in order to apply or remove the ties they must be laboriously threaded through, or drawn from, said rings.

The aforesaid objectionable features are overcome by my present construction, the same being fully set forth and described in the accompanying specification and drawings forming a part thereof, in whichn Figure l is a front elevation of my improved neck-tie rack, showing the tie in position thereon; Fig. 2 is an end elevation of said rack bar; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the framework isolated.

Referring to the drawings and the construction shown therein, the reference letter A designates a rack, which may be suspended if desired, the same being preferably const-ructed of wood, although obviously any other suitable-material may be employed, said rack consisting of an upper portion l and over-lapping bottom 2, which is secured thereto by means of screws, or other retaining means, 3. tom and sides of the upper portion l of said rack, being secured thereto by means of the lower overlapping portion 2. Preferably, said framework is formed from a single piece of spring-steel wire in order to obtain a rigid unitary support for the elastic fingers or loops S. The feet of said framework are preferably arranged as shown in pairs 9, 9 and 9', 9, respectively, both members of a particular pair which forms the foot of a rear loop converging from front to rear toward each other, and diverging with respect to an adjacent member of a pair vhich forms the foot of the next succeeding oop.

The top of the upper portion l is preferably beveled to form a ridge 10 and supplemental channels l1, ll intermediate the ribs 5, 5 and said ridge. This configuration results in the loops or fingers 8, extending above and out of contact with the top of the upper portion l of said rack and permits of the convenient application when desired of the neck band of a tie around said fingers or loops.

It is evident from the construction above described, that the vertical loops or fingers 7 will project across the recesses 4, and lightly contact with or bear against the ridges or ribs 5. The wire from which said loops are formed is of spring metal in order to maintain the same in contact with the said shoulder 5, while permitting of the same being retracted to a suicient distance to permit of the application to said loops of a neck-tie C, either cravat or bow-tie as desired. Thereby it is merely necessary to grip the upper end of said loops with the thumb and foreinger and force the same outwardly to a sufficient distance to permit of the application of the said tie.

The convenience of such a construction as that hereindescribed is apparent and the same is admirably suited for preserving the ties in an orderly and neat arrangement. Moreover, the same can be either suspended from a rod or loop, or if desired allowed to lie flat with one of the sides in contact with a supporting surface as the bottom of a drawer of a dresser or the like.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A neck-tie holder comprising a support having a lateral longitudinal extending rib, provided with a lateral longitudinal main channel formed intermediate the bottom of said support and said rib7 a skeleton framework secured to the bottom of said support, said framework'being formed into a plurality of successive fingers which pro` ject from the bottom of said support across said channel and into proximity to said rib.

2. A neck-tie holder comprising a support having oppositely disposed lateral longitudinal ribs positioned intermediate the top and bottom respectively of said support, a longitudinal ridge extending along the top of said support, oppositely disposed lateral longitudinally extending main channels respectively positioned intermediate said ribs and bottom of said support, oppositely disposed supplemental channels positioned intermediate said ridge and said ribs, a skeleton framework formed of a single piece of spring-steel wire secured to the bottom of said support, said framework being provided with oppositely extending lingers which extend from the bottom of said support across said main channels and into proximity to said ribs7 and means secured to said support and enveloping the lower end thereof for concealing said framework.

3. A neck-tie holder comprising a support provided with a lateral longitudinal main channel, a skeleton framework of spring-steel wire provided with a plurality of elastic clips which are arranged to span said channel and extend in sufficiently close proximity to said support to prevent accidental displacement of a tie positioned in said channel.
