To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that I, GIUSEPPE F. PINSUTI, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and \State of New York, have invented an Improvement in MatcliReceptacles, of which the following is a specification.

My present invention relates to a match receptacle and the object thereof is the provision of a receptacle for matches, so constructed that the matches may be normally maintained in an unexposed position and may be brought successively into an exposed position in which position the matches will ,be available for use as will be hereinafter more particularly described.

In the drawing, Figure 1 is an end view of a receptacle made in accordance with my present invention, the same being shown as adapted to form the outer casing of a cigarette package; Fig. 2 is a cross section on the line y, y, Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a cross section on line 00, m, Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is an elevation of the inner side of the receptacle as shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 5 is a perspective view on a reduced scale lllustrating the casing shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 6 is a view similar to Fig. 1, showing a modified form of the invention; Fig. 7 is a longitudinal cross section, illustrating the modification of the invention and Fig. 8 is a side elevation and partial cross section, illustrating the inner side of the match receptacle indicated in Fig. 7.

Referring to the drawing and particularly to Figs. 1 to 6, inclusive, in which, I have shown my present invention as applicable to a. cigarette package, the casing employed is adapted to the clgarette package from all card-board or any other suitable material and preferably, comprising the side members 10 and the end members 12 and 13, the flap 14 extending from the end member 12, the side member 15, being a continuation of side member 11 and a flap- 16 on the long free edge of the member 15 it being understood that these parts are so formed and connected with the surface of the flap 14; against the adjacent surface of the side 11, so as to form a casing for the cigarette package. The side 15 is folded up against the si e 11 so as to lie in a position parallel and adjacent thereto and the flap 16 of. the side 15 is inturned andvthe face thereof is secured to the adjacent portion of the surface of the side 11 by a suitable adhesive material or otherwise, so as to form a receptacle for the matches. The side member 15 is provided with a slot indicated at 17, one end of which 1s enlarged and approximately centrally in. the member 15, there is also a hole or aperture 18. The cigarette packages is indicated at 19 and the cigarettes therein at 20. Between the side members 11 and 15 of'the receptacle, I employ a series of matches indicated at 21 and as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, inclusive, these matches 21 may be arranged regularly extending in equal spaced positlons from a central hub member 22, .the

' matches and the hub being made of paper or any other suitable material as is customary. I also employ a staple or pivot 23, which is passed through the aperture 18 in the side member 15 and through an aperture provided in the center of the hub 22. The width of the slot 17 is approximately that of the matches 21 and it will now be readily understood that by turning the staple 23, the matches 21 may be moved, so as to cause the same to assume a position in which noneof them are exposed at the slot 17 and also that the matches, by turning the staple 23 may be brought successively into position to register with the slot 17, sothat by passing the end of the finger through the enlarged end of the slot 17, the end of the match registering with the slot 17, may be turned outwardly, turned off and utilized for lighting a cigarette or any desired purpose. erence to Fig. 6, the said member 15 of the receptacle may be provided with a slot 24, instead of the hole 18 and the matches arranged in a substantially parallel position and connected to a strip 25 instead of to a hub 22. In this instance, the staple 26, passes through the slot 24 through the strip 25 and is turned over against the same, so that by shifting the end of the staple, the matches may be moved so as to succesively be brought to register with the slot 17.

Referring to Figs. 6 and 7, it will be understood as within the nature and scope of my invention to simply employ a pair of oppositely disposed plates 27 and 28 of any desired material corresponding respectively with the sides 11 and 15 of the receptacle hereinbefore described, these members 27 and 28 being connected by fasteners 29 or otherwise in any desired manner and as will be understood, the receptacle so formed, may be mounted or held and supported in any suitable frame or stand. As shown in Figs. 6 and .7, the member 28 is constructed similarly to the side member 15, as shown in Fig.

I claim as my invention:

1. A match receptacle comprising a casin in which there is an opemn a series 0 matches within the casin an a staple secured to the said series 0 matches and extending through a wall of the casing and by moving the head of which the series of matches may be moved within the casing to bring the matches successively to the sai opening so that each match in turn may be manually removed from the series of; matches at the said opening.

2. A match receptacle comprising a'casin 20 having oppositely disposed sides, in one o which there is a slot, a series of matches extendlng radial] from a central member or hub, and a stap e assin through the central portion of the sai side aving a slot therein and through the central portion or hub, from which the said matches extend radially and by which staple the matches may be moved to successively register with the said slot.
