7 Claims. (Cl. 229- 87) My invention relates to wrappings for chocolate, cookies, candies, and other sweets.

The principal object of my invention is to provide a wrapping for chocolate, cookies, candy, and other sweets which, if the contents are taken out of the wrapping, forms a booklet and a cover for the booklet.

According to the invention the wrapping consists of a fiat case of thin cardboard, the edges of which are perforated and which is open at least in one of two opposite ends. In this one end, the upper and under side extend into flaps of equal length in which holes are punched. In the case a sliding inner part, or slider, is placed which is made of a piece of thin cardboard folded to form two sheets corresponding in width and length with the case, and a short overlapping sheet which are connected with each other by rectangular parts, corresponding in width and height with the case. One of these parts has an additional double folded center pleat which is as long as the flaps of the case and which is also punched. In this way, the slider holds the contents and closes the open ends of the case.

If the slider is slid into the case its center pleat fits between the flaps of the case. Their punched holes fit over each other, so that the slider can be afiixed to the case by putting paperclips or a string through the holes.

All sides of the slider carry a printed text, for example an entire fairy tale; the cover side of the slider can furthermore show title and picture of that tale. The overlapping flap can also carry a text.

Therefore, if the contents are taken out of the case, the opened slider and its rear carrying the text of the fairy tale remain as a fairy tale booklet after tearing olf the overlapping sheet which, for this purpose, can also be perforated. The upper and under side of the empty case can be removed along the perforated edges and used as a cover for the booklet.

On the case the name of the firm manufacturing the contents is printed. Therefore, if the case is used as cover for the fairy tale booklet a permanent advertising effect is achieved, contrary to known methods of wrapping which are thrown away when emptied.

The invention will be more clearly understood by reference to the accompaying drawing, which shows one embodiment of the invention. In the drawing:

Referring to Fig. 1, the flat case a made of thin cardboard is perforated along its edges b and extends into two flaps c of equal length on one open side. Both flaps are punched in corresponding places with two holes d in a certain distance of each other. The opposite end of the case can be open or closed.

The slider, made of a piece of thin cardboard, is folded to form two sheets e and fsee Fig. 2corr esponding in width and length with the case a, and a short overlapping sheet k which are connected with each other by rectangular parts corresponding in width and height with the case a. The part, which connects the sheets e and f, has an additional double folded center pleat g, folded at h. The corresponding part between f and k is preferably perforated. The center pleat g has four equal holes 1', two of which fit over the other two, and which in their turn fit under the holes d of the flaps c of the case a. The chocolate bar 1 is laid into the slider.

The upper side of the case a carries a printed text describing the contents, and a picture of the fairy tale; preferably the name of the manufacturer is to be mentioned. The sides of the slider e and f carry the printed text of a fairy tale. The chocolate bar I is inserted between e and f of the slider, so that it rests on part i. Then the flap k is turned over and part 2 of the slider put over the bar I or vice versa. After this, the slider containing the chocolate bar I can be inserted into the case asee Figs. 3 and 4. The center pleat g of the closed slider rests now between the flaps c of the case a. In this condition the holes d fit over the holes i. Consequently paperclips m or a piece of string can be put through the holes which then fasten the flaps c of the case a to the center pleat g.

If the chocolate bar I is to be taken out of the wrapping, the connection between case and slider is severed by removing the clips or the string from holes :2 and i, the flaps of the case are turned back and the slider is drawn out by pulling pleat g. The slider is opened, sheet k turned back and bar I can be taken outsee Fig. 2. Sheet k can now be torn off.

The empty slider thus forms a fairy tale booklet, and the upper side of the case a, if removed along the perforated edges b, can serve as its cover as like as its rear,

Apart from the model described above, the flaps of the case and the center pleat of the slider can be attached to another side If necessary, more C1 U16 case. than one pair of fiaps can be added. Instead of clips or string, also other means of fastening the slider to the case may be used. Instead of offering a fairy tale, the sides of the slider may also be perforated into quartette or domino squar s. Obviously, other modifications may be made than the ones shown, and I do not wish to be limited except as indicated in the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

1. In a wrapping of the character described, a case open at at least one end and having a top, bottom and sides, the junctions between said top and sides being perforated, whereby said top is severable from said sides by tearing therefrom, and having a flap extending from said open end thereof, said flap having spaced perfora- It can be interspersed with I tions, an inner member slidably contained in said case and comprising two sheets corresponding in length and width with said top and connected to each other by means of a folded part which projects from the open end of said case, said part having perforations spaced to correspond with the perforations of said flap, and in registration with the perforations of said flap when said member is wholly within the case, and means extending through the perforations of said part and said flap for 'removably securing said member to said case.

'2. vA wrapping as defined in claim 1, in which said part is creased to provide a double-folded center pleat. I 3. A wrapping, asdefined in claim 1, in which said part consists of two rectangular portions, each substantially equivalent in length to the length of said flap.

I 4. A wrapping, as defined in claim 1, in which one of said sheets has a perforated extension at the end free thereof, said extension being foldable over said other sheet and being severable from said one sheet by tearing along said last-named perforation.

5. A wrapping, as defined in claim 1, in which said bottom also has an end flap having perforations therein adapted for registry with the perforations in said firstnamed flap and said part.

6. A wrapping, as defined in claim 1, in which the junction between said bottom and said sides is perforated whereby said bottom is severable from said sides by tearing therefrom.
