OF MABIETTA, OHIO, A CORPORATION OF OHIO.
DOOR OB. WALL OF SHEET Specification of Letters Patent. I Patented luay 30, 19 11.
Application filed September 27, 1909. Serial No. 519,666.
' wall in which the parts cafFbe economically manufactured and quickly assembled.
, The invention is embodied in the c0nstruction herein shown and described and then particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing: Fi re is a section horizontally of a door on t eline w-m Fig. 3. Fig. 2 is a section vertically.
on the line yy Fig. 3.- Fig. 3 isa front elevation of the door. I
The parts are constructed chiefly of sheet metal. The door shown is rectangular in outline. Its inner sheet 6 is formed. of a rectangular sheet of metal slit or cut out at the corners andbent up at the margins as seen at? to stand at right angles to the body of the sheet. The ends of the bent up margins can be lappedand suitably secured together orthey can be mitered and welded,- the resulting structure ineither case being of'a shallow box form. Each of the four margins or flanges 7 is then slit'and pressed out to form a suitable number of catches 8 with their straightshoulders at 9 presented toward the plane of the body of the sheet.'
The front sheet 10 is in form generally gins of the front sheet arebent to form a flange 11 and said flange is further bent to forman inwardly extending flange '12. The
ends of the flanges 11 and 12 at the corners of the sheet are secured together in any suitable manner or as before described, with reference to the rear sheet. The structure thus described resembles the lid of a box, except that it has the flanges 12. The flanges l1 arefig referably of such depth that/the flanges 12 can be sprung over the catches 8 with the edges of the flange T abutting or nearly abutting against the front sheet 10 to prevent movement of the sheets toward or Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents eacli, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents. 1

without departing from the gist of the infrom each other. The front wall is thus applied to the rear one in very much the manner in which a lid is applied to its box except that considerable pressure may be nec essary to cause the flange 12 to spring over the catches 8. When the two parts are con- I have shown the invention as utilized in I the construction of a door hinged at 14 and rovided with a knob 15 for operating it at the invention is not limited to this use. It can, for example, be used in the construction of walls for safes or parts of furniture (gal-wherever such a structure would be use- I do not limit myself to the particular embodiment of the invention herein shown and articularly set forth as the invention 0 modified in the form of its details vention. , What I claim is:
1. A door or wall constructed of two I sheets of metal, each bent at its margins to' form fl'an es, the flanges of one'sheet provided wit .catches and the flanges of the other provided with an inturned flange to engage said catches.
2; A. door or wall constructed of. two sheets of metal each bent at its margins to form flanges, the flanges of one sheet provided with catches bent up in them and the flanges of the other provided with an inturned flange to engage said catches.
3. A door or wall constructed of two sheets of metal, eachbent at its margins to form flanges, the flanges of one sheet provided" with catches and the flanges of the movement of the two sheets toward each other when the inturned flange is engaged with the catches. I
