FUNNEL-ATTACHMENT DEVICE FOR BOTTLE-NECKS.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Apr. 11, 1911.
Application filed August 19, 1910. Serial No. 577,989.
lowing is a specification.
This invention relates to funnel attaching devices for bottle necks and the object of the invention is to provide a means for securing a funnel to a bottle neck so that it may be thrown to operative position at right angles to the bottle for filling another vessel from the bottle and whereby it may be positioned over the bottle neck to prevent dust and dirt from accumulating around the mouth thereof.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device shown applied to a bottle neck and arranged in operative position for receiving a liquid from said bottle. tion showing the bottle arranged in vertical position and the funnel closed over the neck thereof in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a detail elevation of the hinge employed.
Referring more particularly to the drawmg 1 represents a funnel of any suitable shape or size having connected to it upon the interior of its upper edge a bracket arm 2 which is provided with an apertured head 3 upon which is pivoted an arm 4. The arm is limited in its upward movement by a shoulder 5 formed on the bracket 2 and Fig. 2 is an elevacarries at its upper end a pair of resilient clamping arms 6 which are flared at their outer ends to form finger grips 7. This clamp is adapted to snap around the neck of a bottle so as to hold the funnel thereon at all times. When the funnel is in the position shown in Fig. 1 and adapted for receiving the liquid from the bottle, the shoulder limits its movement and holds it at substantially right angles to the bottle so as to be in proper receiving position. When the funnel is inverted over the neck of the bottle as shown in Fig. 2, the flaring finger grips limit the movement of the funnel and support the same in vertical inverted position as shown.
The advantages of this device will be apparent to many artisans in different trades or professions.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is In a device of the class described, the combination with a funnel, of a bracket secured thereto, an arm pivoted to the bracket, a resilient clamp carried by the arm adapted to engage around the neck of a bottle, means for manipulating the clamp, said means forming a support for the funnel in inverted position, and means to limit the movement of the funnel whereby it is held at right angles to the bottle to which it is attached. I
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LOUIS P. ROSSIER.
