TOY HAND-GAB.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY T. KiNosn'onY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Keene, in the county of Cheshire, State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Hand- Cars, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to an improvement in toy hand cars, and consists in the various details of construction and arrangements of parts, as hereinafter described and set forth in the appended claims.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a toy hand car, constructed in accordance with my invention; Fig. 2 is a plan view; Fig. 3 is an end view; Fig. at is a plan view of the standard blank; Fig. 5 is a detail perspective View of the clip for holding the legs of the figures in osition on the platform; Fig. 6 is a similar view of the clip which forms the connection between the two parts of the push handle. Referring to the drawings, the platform 1 is made of a single piece of sheet metal with the sides and ends turned down. The central standard A is shown in detail in Fig. 4:, and consists of a single blank formed as shown, the central portion 2 being bent up, as shown, to form ears, to which the operating lever 3 is pivoted. The parts 1 are bent down and formed with lugs 55, adapted to pass through and be clenched on the under side of slots in the platform 1. The operating lever 3 has an opening in each end, through which pass shafts 6, to the ends of which are pivoted the arm portions 7 of the fi res. The figures are made of wood, each 0 five pieces, the parts being fastened together by rivets 8, and the lugs 9 are secured to the platform by means of the clips B, which have opposite projections 10 adapted to be embedded in the wood of the figures, and spring branches having lugs 11 springing into slots in the platform 1. The operating lever 3 is connected to the crank axle 12 of the toy by the pivoted link 13.
I The ends of the platform 1 are formed with ears 145 with openings to receive the spring ends of the wire loop 15 forming part of the Specification of Letters Patent.

I handle. The outer end of this push handle is of wood or other suitable material, and is connected to the wire portion of the handle by the clip C. This clip is formed with elongated slots 17, so that the formed wire may be passed through. These slots are of length suflicient to allow the wire which has been already formed with the bent ends, to engage the holes in the ears 14:, to pass through the same. The wire is entered and then the clip is riveted to the wooden portion of the handle. The wire also engages in a groove 16 (see Fig. 1), cut across the end of the handle. The wire normally had considerable spread, and when the ends are pressed together to engage the holes in ears 14, the wire pinches in the end slots 18 of clips 0, and makes the joints rigid.
The car is designed to be packed for shipment with all parts excepting the wheels, axles and connecting rod detached. When the car is set up for use, the standard A is fastened permanently in position by bending back the lugs engaging the slots in the plat form.
The position of the figures may be changed readily on the platform by means of the clips 13, any desired number of slots for the reception of the lugs 11 being pro- Vided.
The features of the toy are the interchangeability of the positions of the figures, the use of detachable parts, which permitclose packing, and the folding push bar handle.
Having thus particularly described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A toy hand car, comprising a crank axle, and means for operating it, a platform, a standard formed of a single piece of sheet material having lugs attached to the platform, and having bent-up portions an operating lever pivoted tothe bent-up portions, and an operating connection between the lever and the crank axle and figures having portions pivotally connected to the operating lever.
2. A toy hand car comprising a crank axle and means for operating it, a platform, a standard formed of a single piece of sheet material having lugs attached to the plat form, and having bent-up portions an operating lever pivoted to the bent-up portions, and an operating connection between the lever and the crank axle, figures having portions pivotally connected to the operating wooden handle, said Wooden handle having 10 lever, and a clip having lugs to engage said a groove in which the end of the Wire loop figures and spring arms to engage slots in fits.
