Description

initd gtaiw pam een.
C.\O. CROSBY, 0F NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
` Letters Patent No. 98,7 45, dated January 11, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN PAPERIN G- PINS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the 63m0- To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, C. 0. CROSBY, of New Haven,
in the county of New Haven, and State of Connecti-V cut, have invented a new Improvement in Paperinr Pins ;v and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, and the 'letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact `description of the same, and
which said drawing constitutes part of this specifi;
. ness of the paper in the crimps, and occasioned bythe sticking of the pins therethrough.'
To. avoid this difficulty, and afford a convenient means for separating the rows'. is the object of my inset forth vention, which consists in perforatiug the paper between each row in a line transversely across the paper, so that in the said line of perfcrations, the paper is so far disconnected as to make that line the easiest point 0f separation. y
A represents one row, B, a second row of pins stuck upon the paper C, through crilnps a a and b b.
,Between the `several rows, I. run a line of perforations d, and this I do while the pins are heilig stuck, or at any convenient point on the pin-sticking machine, or it may be done out of the machine, and these perforations or indent-ations, I make suiiicient to so far weaken the paper at that point, that on the line of the perforations or indentaticns, it will readily separate.
I claim, as my inyent-on- In paperin g pins, perforating or indenting the paper between I[he several rows, substantially in the manner C. O. CROSBY. Witnesses:
JOHN H. SHUMWAY,
A. J. TIBBITs.
