WILLIAM E. FLOOD, F FORT WORTH, TEXAS, ASSIGNOB ONE-HALF TO R E. F1001),
OF FORT WOB'IH, 'I'EXAS'.
Specification of Letters Patent. bppllcation filed Deccmher 27', 1910. Serial No. 599,574.
Patented Mar. 21, 1911.
- citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Worth, in the county of Tarrant and State pointed out in the claims.
of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Wringers and Washing-Machines, of which the following is a specification. This-invention relates to certain attachments for washing machines and wringers and more particularly to reversing devices. In the use of washing machines and Wringers ofthe type illustrated in the draw ings it is desirable tohave one tub or vessel for washing the clothes or other arments and another 'tub for rinsing the c othes or other garments arranged in convenient relation to both the wringer and thewashing machine so that clothes can be transferred directly from one tub to the other through the wringer. The object of'this invention is to provide certain attachments by which the washing machine can be swung from the washing tub directly to the rinsing't-ub and also by which the washing machine can be reversed to bring the same to operative position after or when swung from one tub or vessel to another. I 7
Other, objects and advantages will be fully explained in the following description and the invention will be more particularly a Reference is had to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application.
Figure 1 is a-side elevation of theimproved attachments, as applied to a wringer and washing machine of ordinary construe tion, a part of the washing machinebe'ing omitted to expose the attachments. Fig, 2 is a side elevation of the attachments, as applied'to the washing machine in thefolded position; Fig; 3 is a front view'o ifthe wash- .ing. machine, on a larger s'c'alarwith, theattachmen-ts applied thereto. Fig.4 is an end View of the washinglmachine, with the hear ing and other mechanism removed to illus trate the typeof .la'shing-ma'chi'nes to which the attachments areapplicable. Fig. 5 is a detail view, showing aportion of one of the reversing arms and the bolt therefor.

Wringer is provided with the usual rollers, a roller 4 j ournaled in stationary bearings and Ya roller 5 journal'ed inmovable bearings (not necessary to' be described herein) The roller): is provided with ashaft 6 and a crank 7 The improvements include slotted lever arms 8 which are fulcrumed on the bolts ltand thumb nuts 15 and washers 16.1 I
and washers, are necessary when reversing the-washing machine and also for adapting the attachments to different sized tubs or vessels. The nuts 15 can be loosened and the carrying arms 13 set at different angles to the lever arms 8. The carrying arms 13 are connected to the washing machine by pivot lugs or trunnions'll, which are rigid in the bearing uprights 11. 7' The openings in the arms 13 .for-the pivot lugs '17 are elongated as shown in Fig. 1 for adjusting the arms 13 relative to the holding lugs 18- and '19. The lever arms are fulcrumed on the shaft 6 and are provided With slots therein for the purpose of adjusting the arms for washing vessels of different heights and also for folding the Washing machine and the wash benches.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new' and desire tocsecure by Letters Patent, is,-
1. Attachments for Wringers and washing machines comprising an upright frame, a Washing machine provided with pivot lugs, slotted lever arms fulcrumed on said frame,
and carrying arms engaging said pii ot lugs and fixedly adjusted on said lever arms whereby said Washing machine can be swung from one side of said frame to the other and inverted to operative position on either side of said frame.
2. Attachments for wringers and washing machines comprising a washing machine slotted lever arms fulcrumed on said frame,
and carrying arms fixedly adjusted on said lever arms and engaging said pivot lugs and having notches for engaging said holding ugs.
3. Washing machine attachments comprising pivot lugs inserted rigidly inthe sides of the washing machine and projecting therefrom, holding lugs on each side of said pivot lugs rigid with the Washing machine,
an upright frame, slotted lever arms fulcrumed on said frame, and carrying arms fixedly adjusted on said'lever arms and having-elongated bearings engaging said pivot lugs whereby said washing machine may be swung from one side of said frame to the other and having notches in each side thereof for engaging said holding lugs and said pivot lugs being longer than said holding lugs whereby said carrying arms may be disengaged from the holding lugs for reversing,
the washing machine.
In'testimony whereof, I set my hand in the presence of two Witnesses, this 8th day of December, 1910.
