To all whom it may concern rangement of a ratchet, letinto the edge of a sash or otherplace, in combination with attachments com municating with a bell or bells, by means of a rotary cam-lever and slide, and a toothed gear.- I
I To enable others to make and use my invention, I
will proceed to describe the same.
In the drawing- Figure 1 is a face view of a portion of a sash and frame, showing myarrangements.
.- Figure 2, a side view of the same. Figure 3, part of the sash-stile, showing the edge with the ratchet inserted.
The drawing describes the items of my invention, and the modeof attaching to a window-frame.
'On the edge of the sash A, I insert the ratchet B, to work on the toothed gear 0, when the sash rises or falls, giving a revolving action to the five-pointed cam D, causing each point, as it revolves, to strike the projecting pin E, of the vertical slide B.
On this slide F is another pin, G, to whichis attached the chain or wire I,,'t-o connect with the alarm-bell H, and toother alarm-hells, or theirequiw' alents, that may be placed in any room or position, far or near, or may be made to connect and branch off, and operate upon anyof the common bells of the house.
The wire or chain I can be disconnected during the day or at any time,-so as not to interfere with the rise and fall of the sash. 1
The apparatus can be placed in other situations, and work effectually.
, The utility of my invention is in its simplicity and sure and efiect-ive alarm.
