Be it known that I, IVAN S. PERKINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Guymon, in the county of Texas and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trousers-Sapporters, of which the following is a specification.

y invention relates to improvements in trousers supporters, and my object is to provide a novel device of this character whereby trousers may be comfortably supported without the use of suspenders or ordinary leather belts. The device is adjustable lengthwise to fit wearers having diilerent 'Waist measures, and it is also adjustable vertically to accommodate trousers of ditm tei-cnt lengths.

In order that the invention may be fully understood, reference will new be made to the accompanyilig` drawing, in which:

l designates a belt made preferably ot metal, and consisting of a pair o't sections 2, reinforced by integral ribs Si. One ot the sections is provided at its trontend with a pocket 4- to receive the front end of the companion section which has a series otl perforations 5, through any oit which the pin (3 ot' a resilient latch 7 is adapted to extend. Latch 7 is secured Vto the front side of pocket et.' This arrangement permits the belt Vto be lengthened or shortened to accon'nnodate the Waist ot the wearer.

The rear ends of sections 2 have perforations 8 and tit into the pockets 9 ot a hinge 10, provided for the purpose ot' allowing the belt to be readily opened preparatory to placing it around the waist. The perforated ends of sections 2 are adjustably held in the pockets by the pins 1l of latches 12 secured to said pockets, said pins being adapted to extend through any of the periorations 8. By thus adjustably arranging the rear ends of sections 2 in pockets 9, hinge 10 may always be maintained an equal distance from the two oppositely-disposed hip-pads 13, irrespective of how milch the belt is lengthened or shortened.

The hip-pads 13 are provided at their l'ront sides with cushions 11i and at their rear sides with pockets 15 adapted to receive the perforated arms 1G oit' V-shaped springs 17 provided at their opposite ends with loops 1S, slidably mounted upon sections 2, so that the pads may be adjusted longitudinally as desired. Springs 17 are connected in pairs by bars 1S) and ltheir arms lt are adjustably held in the pockets 15 by spring-latches 20, provided with pins 2l, adapted to extend through any o't the periorations 1G. This arrangement permits vertical adjustment 0i the belt upon the arms 1,(3 to acconnnodate trousers ot dill'erent lengths. By mounting the pins upon the Vshaped springs 17, they are yieldingly held in position and consequently will not interfere with the breathing` of the wearer, and in order that said pads may lit comlbrtably over the hip-bones, they are recessed at their central portions 22.

The trousers beneath which the belt is worn, are reliably attached thereto by means ol hooks 2?), each ol. which consists of a triangular' body portion B-t, a pin 25, and a downturned tongue 2G, which latter is bent inward near its lower terminal Q7 to engage the underside ot the ac'ljacent rib 3, see Fig. 2. The body portion Q-.t is adapted to be sewed between the lining 28 and the outer cloth 2*.) ot the trinisers, and pin 2li is adapted to be inserted into the lining to relieve the threads oit the weight of the trousers. The upper portions 30 oil tongue 20 is preterably elliptical in cross Section, so that if the belt `is dispensed with, and Suspenders substituted ther-chir, the button-holes will not be torn out by engaging sharp corners on the tongue.

From the above description it is apparent that I have produced a belt which may be adjusted in any desired manner to suit the convenience and coni'lort oi the wearer.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

1. The combination oil. a belt, a pair of members slidably*mounted thereon, and a pair of hip-pads vcrticallyadjustable upon said members.

2. The combination of a belt, a pair of resilicnt members carried thereby, a pair of hip-pads provided With pockets to adjustcarried by the hip-pads to engage the perfoably receive said resilient members7 and rated arms and secure the hip-pads thereon.
