This invention relates to improvements in car-roof construction, and pertains more especially to an improved exclusively metal AOne object of this invention is to avoid 'fthe necessity of employing a ridge-pole and pulrlines or the like in the construction of a fear-roof. l w 'Another object is to construct a car-root comprising metal carlines which are arranged transversely and spaced longitudinally of the roof and connected together by metal loofingsections, and to have the said arts so relatively arranged thatl they can c assembled ofi' the main car-frame or earbody and the roof thus formed hoisted onto A' `the said frame or body.

Another object is to make adequate provision for contraction and expansionof the roofing-sections. longitudinally of the carroof without resulting in leakage or other damage or injury to thereof. Y
Anotherx object is to have the running board or boards which are arranged above and lonffitudinall of the roof centrally between tle side e ges. of the roof supported from standards onbrackets which are secured to carlines by securing devices employed in securingr roofing-sections to the said` carlincs.
v lVith these objects in view, and tothe end ot' realizing any other advantages hereinafter appearing,- this invention consists in certain features of construction and arrangement and combinations of parts, 'heren arrow. Each carline C has twoend members 15 and 15'and a central or intermediate member 10 which is-considerably longer than andv arranged longitudinally betweenA and connects with the said end members. the bottom of the carline and projecting laterallyof and outwardly from opposite sides respectively and extending longitudinally'o the upwardly projecting portion of the earline, and a sheet-metal roofing-section bridging the space between the two car! lines and overlapping those flanges whichv project toward each other, said roofing-section extending over the upwardlyprojecting portions of the carlines and overlappii'ig and at least loose relative to one of those sides which face each other ot the said upwardly projecting portions of the cai-lines.
