To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, NICHOLAS Mona, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Supporting Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in curtain shade supporting devices and embraces the construction of an improved adjustable curtain shade support.

One of the objects of the invention is the construction of an improved curtain shade support comprising a number of fixed stops and means carrying a curtain shade adapted to slidably connect or support the curtain shade in fixed position on the stops.

Another object of the invention the construction of a device whereby a curtain shade can be quickly secured in different positions on a window frame without interfering with the operation of the shade.

With the above and other objects in view the invention relates to certain improvements, combinations and arrangements of parts, clearly described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,

Referring to the accompanying drawings which are merely illustrative of the invention, 1 denotes a window frame embracing bottom and top members 2 and side members 8 and 41, which are connected to said top and bottom members. On the upper portions of the side members 8 and et slideways or guides 5 are secured, each of said slideways or I I l guides being formed with a general U- shaped outline and provided with outwardly projecting flanges 6. The slideways 5 extend from the top of the side members 3 and 1 to a point below the center of the window frame. On the slideways 5 movable guide members 7, formed U-shaped in order to em gage with the edges 6 of. the slideways, are movably located, said guide members 7 being provided with shade supporting brackets or supports 8, secured thereto. The slideways 5 are secured to the window side members?) and 4t so the trough 9 of the same will be open to receive sliding bars 10 disposed in the guide members 7, which bars move behind fixed stops 11, these stops have horizontally disposed plates 12 thereon. The plates 12 are formed with slots 13 and with smaller slots 1 1, and are secured to the side frame members 3 and 1- by any suitable means. The lower ends of the bars 10 are secured to guides 15, carried by a horizontal operating bar 16, which extends across the window frame. The guides 15 are formed with a laterally bent portion 17 which is provided with a slot 18.

Near the bottom of the window frame 1 stops 19 are located. On the bottom of the window frame 1 brackets 20 are secured, and to said brackets vertical guide rods 21 are secured, said guide rods extending through the slots l-t and 18 in the members 11 and 15.

A shade 23 is mounted for operation on the brackets 8. The bar 16 carries brake members 2st which are pivotally secured to the ends of said bar and adapted to engage with the guide rods 21..

The guides 15 of the rod 1,6 are adapted to engage with the stops 19 and 11. By vertically sliding said bar or rod 16 on the guide rods 21 the guides 15 can be brought into engagement with the stops 11 or 19 and the curtain shade held at different heights above the bottom of the window frame. The bottom stop is adapted to hold the window shade below the top of the window and the top stop is adapted to hold the window shade near the top of the window, the lower edges of the member 11 engage the slots 11 in the stops 11.

Having described my invention I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. An adjustable shade support, consisting of a pair of U-shaped runners, vertical bars slidable in said runners, shade brackets held rain 1 4 i i A 1 1 l by said bars, 111 combination with a series of stops secured to a window frame, a horizontal bar connecting said vertical bars, and means onsaid horizontal bar for engaging said stops.

2. An adjustable shade support, consisting of a pair of U-shaped runners, vertical bars slidable in said runners, shade brackets held by said bars, in combination with a series of stops secured to a window frame, a horizontal bar connecting said vertical bars, means on said horizontal bar for engaging said stops, guide rods, and" means for securing said guide rods to a window frame.

3. An adjustable shade support, consisting of a pair of U-shaped runners, vertical bars slidable in said runners, shade brackets held by said bars, in combination with a series of stops secured to a Window frame, a horizon tal bar connecting said vertical bars, means on said horizontal bar for engaging said stops, guide rods, means for securing said guide rods to awindow frame, and means for slidably holding the ends of said horizontal bar to said guide rods.

4-. An adjustable shade supportconsisting of a pair of U-shaped runners, vertical bars slidable in said runners, shade brackets held by said bars, in combination with a series of stops secured to a window frame, a horizontal bar connecting said vertical bars, means on said horizontal bar for engaging said stops, guide rods, means for securing said guide rods to a window frame, means for slidably holding the ends of said horizontal bar to said guide rods, and brake members pivotall secured to the ends of said horizontal bar, adapted to engage said guide rods.
