UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK W. DOHM, OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-FOURTH TO JAMES C. BRAMWELL AND ONE-FOURTH TO DAR-IUS F. REESE, BOTH OF ST. PAUL, MINNE- SOTA.
APPARATUS FOR HEATING CURLING-IRONS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK W. DoHM, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Heating CurlingIrons, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in apparatus designed especially for heating ladies curling irons, my object being particularly to provide means in connection with the heating apparatus for conveniently supporting the curling iron and directing the heat evenly along the desired portion of the iron.
To this end my invention consists in the features of construction and combination hereinafter particularly described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings forming part of this application Figure 1 is a perspective View of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section of the same.
In the drawings A represents the base of the apparatus having suitably mounted thereon a container 13 for holding alcohol or other liquid fuel. The container B carries a forwardly and upwardly directed spout for holding tube 2, within which isv adapted to be arranged a suitable wick 3. Threaded in an opening 4 on top of the container is a stopper 5 formed with upwardly extending curved arms 6 constituting a rest for the handle of the curling iron 7. Supported by the base in front of the container is a bracket 8 having in its upper end a depression 9 to form a rest for the curling iron, as indicated in the drawings. Preferably secured to the bracket as by chains 9 is at cap 10 for the end of the wick holding tu e.
In use where it is desired to heat the end Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 30, 1909.

Serial No. 475,288.
of a single handled curling iron the iron is supported upon the device as indicated in Fig. 1 with the handle of the iron resting in the rest 6 and the body of the iron in the depression 9 of the bracket 8. This brings the curling end of the iron directly forward of and in line with the open upper end of the wick 3 allowing the flame to be directed evenly along the end of the curling iron, as indicated in Fig. 2. Where a double handled curling iron is used the handles will rest upon the top of the container on opposite sides of the stopper 5 and the body of the curling iron will rest in the depression 9 of the bracket 8, as shown.
It will be observed that the container is movably mounted on the support relative to the bracket, and that, by reason of which, the distance between the bracket and the container can be varied to accommodate curling irons or analogous articles of different lengths.
I claim as my invention:
A heating apparatus for the purpose described, comprising the combination with a support, of a bracket projecting from one end thereof and adapted to form a support for one end of a tool, a fuel container movably mounted on the support relative to the bracket said container being provided with an opening in its top and an upwardly ex tending wick tube, and a closure plug detachably secured within the top of said container and provided with upwardly and outwardly directed arms which constitute a support for the other end of the tool.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
