IMPROVEMENT IN Parnu-PILES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters`Ptent :and making part of. the same;
V.To all whom it may concern v f l Be it known that I., CHARLES W. WEsT, of Shiloh,
Cumberland county, Newdersey, have invented a new and `improved Paper-File; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,.clear, and exact description-thereof, which will enableothers skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part Of l this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of improved paper-ille.

This invention relates to a new paper-file, which is composed of two bars that can be tied together, so
that the paper will be securely clasped between them,
"the strin gs for `iiyin g them being arranged in a peculiar which i are used on a, which are made to pierce the paper to he held, and I which it into holes prepared in the other bar, as indicated in fig. 2.
b and c are two striugs,both fastened with one end to the bar A, as in iig. l'. Lhev string b is secured to one endof the bar A, andis then fitted through the bar B, in theysame direction in which the pins a are arranged, as shown in iigs. 1 and 2. .It is. then' placed on'the upperedge of B,as shown'. The string c is fastened to the middle of the bar A, to one side of the same, and is7 on the outside of the file, drawn up to the upper edge Oi' B, through a staple, d, arranged thereon. It is then tted through an eye or loop formed Outhe end ofl the string b, and back through the staple (I. lt is then drawn to the lower end of the file, and Wound around both bars, A and B, as shown, its end being secured in a notch, c, which is formed in one of the bars.
Between the staple d and the lower end of the die, may be arranged suitable other staples,f f, to guide the lower part of" the string c..v v
It will-bey noticed that that end to which the string b .is lsecured is Opposite to that at which the string c 'is fitted in the notch c.
The string c, when drawn tight, will -not only stretch itself, but also the. string b, as shown; The strings do not pierce the paper, and can therefore be convenientlyadjusted to any quantity of paper l the middle.
Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A paper-tile, consisting Of the bars A B, having the pin's a a, and of the strings b c, which are interlocked, as set forth, so that they tie the bars togethe`- without piercing the paper, substantially as herein shownand described. K
