`IMPROVE: WARDROBE.
The `Schedule referred to `in these Letters Patent and making part `of the samey To allrvhom it mwylconcerlt:
Be it known that I, A. G. MAGK,`0` Rochester, in
. the county of Monroe, and,.State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in do hereby declare that the following is `afull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had tothe accompanying drawing, making part of thisspeciiication, in which- Figure lis a front elevation, looking in the direction of the arrow, fig. 2.
Figure 2 sLa transverse section, at the dotted line x, fig. 1. g Figure 3 is a plan view of' a portio'hof the top. The object otmy invention, the' nature of which 'will be understood by reference to.the specification and drawings, is to'provide an ornamental wardrobe,
which shall combine the conveniences of a closet,
` bureau, and toilet-stand, and,` at the same time, oc-
cupy but little space.
To enable others tomake and use my invention, I will describe its constructionl The casev A,;igs. l and 2, is so constructed that the rear port-ion shall lit into thecoruer of a room, while `the front projects somewhat, and is of polygonal section, as` shown in iig. 2, `the number' of sides varying, according Ito the taste ofthe purchaser, from two upward. This `front may he `composedof any ornamental wood, having mouldings to correspond with' the inishof the room in which it is placed, if desirable. v'
Within 'this case, a `wardrcbe-reel, B, is located, revolvingv nponpivots at top and bottom, and provided with arms b, to which is secured a number of hooks,
a.,`to receive articles of clothing. g.
The door d, in `one of the sidesy or sections of the case, opens into the interior vof the latter, through which access may belihad to any arm of the reel,- by swinging the latter upon its-axis. '.lhe arms b are secured to the spindle, at a suitable height from the bottom of the case A, and may be six or more in number, as desired.
` The hooks are locatedso that those on adjacent sides of the arms shall not be opposite one another, for greater convenience in hanging up or removing articles. 4
Itwill he seen,'that by this'arrangement, a large quantity of clothing can-be hung up in a comparatively small space, vwhile it is all easily` accessible.
To one section .of the case, shelves G may be attached, `for the reception of toilet-articles, and a mirror, H, is suspended overthem. If desirable, drawers may be provided under these shelves.
The remaining sections of the front have shelfclosets C, made of a by doors c, similar to d. One of theseclosets may have a rack for umbrellas, as shown in fig. 1.
Below the closets'O, drawers D are introduced, under a false bottom in the .caseA,- which answer the same purposes as the drawer of a bureau...
In the two outside sections, box-cupboards D, for boots, shoes, and similar articles, may take the place of the drawers, extending into the case as vfar as is desirable. v
A writing-,desk may also be secured,` to one of the sections.
'lo facilitate the removal `and 'shipment of thewardrobe, gthe rear portion is made separate from the front, the line of division being parallel with the polygonal outline, as shown indotted lines in fig. 2. The two parts may be attached to each other by hooks and staples at the sides.
A gudgeon, cast upon the plate j, fig. 3, and projecting into the case A, enters a ferrule on the end of the reel-spindle.
VBy removing the, plate j, the reel B maybe taken out for any purpose.
The sides ofthe rear portion may behinged at the angle g,`fig. 2, so as to fold, it' desirable, for packing or shipment.
Itwill be observed, that while this wardrobe possesses all the conveniences of a closet, bureau, hookcase, and dressingLcase, it will occupy but little space, and be an ornamental` object in any room. It will be especially valuable in large cities, where, in many dwellings, it is im practicable to have closets connected with dressing or sleeping-rooms.
I claim no part ofthe invention shown in lthe patent of J :Moser of 1867; but i What Ivi/claim as my invention, and desire to ksecure by LettersPatent, is
The skeleton-reel B, in combination with the xed shelfclosets O and drawers D, of corner cabinet-cases,
as set forth.
