Description
UNITED. STATES PATENT OFFICE.
A'UGU'STIN HENTSCHEL,
OF BERLIN, GERMANYQ PROCESS OF MANUFACTURING IMITATIO N FUR.
No Drawing.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Dec. 20, 1910. Application filed April 19, 1910. Serial No. 556,460.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUoUsTIN HENTsoHEL, a subject of the German Emperor, and re siding at Berlin, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Process of Manufacturing Imitation Fur, of'which the following is a specification.
The subject-matter of my invention is an improved process of manufacturing imitation fur.
In the known processes of manufacturing imitation fur of piled stuffs either the groundwork of the fabric was subjected to strains when the pile was given the required form during the golfering, crumpling, knotting or like operation, or the required form was given to the pile by placing the nap in a definite position, as is the ease e. g. in whirling, when a binding agel t had to be applied to the material and afterward re moved therefrom.
Now a primary object of my invention is to .produce a durable imitation fur from piled goods without the groundwork of the fabric having to be subjected to strain in any manner and without its being necessary to remove a binding agent therefrom.
According to my improved process I coat the pile facing or nap of the material lying on a suitable support with a suitable, thin dressing-mass and then make it quite smooth. I then push back the damp hairs of the pile the wrong way a piece at a time by means of a flat-edged implement, e. g.
my process is selected such that it can remain on the material during the steaming operation and indeed permanently without impairing the product.
I claim The hereindescribed process of manufacturing imitation fur of piled goods which consists in moistening the pile facing with a dressing-mass, then stroking it smooth, and then crispingv the pile by pushing it back the wrong way a piece at. a time by means of a flat-edged implement, and finally steaming the material.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
AUGUSTIN HENTSCHEL.
Witnesses HENRY HASPER, WOLDEMAR HAUPT.
