Be itknown'that I, FREDERIC HEWITT, of Bloom field,.in the. ccunty of Essex, and State of` New J ersey, have inventeda new and useful Improvement in Filming-Machines; and I do hereby declare that the same, reference being had 'to the annexed drawings,

making apart of this specification, in which- 'Figure 1` is a longitudinal `elevation of my invention, and .e y Figure 2, auend elevation of thsame.

'lhenature of my invention consists in 'dispensing with the rollers heretibreused in llutingmachines, and using, instead, two` flat or curved surfaces -or dies, having the necessary andncorrespoiuiing corrugations, flutes, crimps, or other 'patterns formed on their surfaces.; these dies, forming the faces of two boxes or heater-receptacles, one upper and one lower, and

which may be pressed together` in any convenient manner.; said dies -being heated by heaters inserted into the befbre-mentioned boxes or receptacles, so that the material to be tluted, being placed between said dies ,'and pressurebeing applied, ma'yreceive an impression corresponding to the patterns on the dies.
