GARMENT SUPPORT.
APPLICATION IILBD mm. 27, 1900.

PAENT l- FFICE.
JOSEPH R. HANDLE, OF COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI.
GARMENT-SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 8, 1910.
Application filed December 27, 1909. Serial No. 535,054.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OSEPH R. RANDLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at C0- lumbus, in the county of Lowndes and State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supports, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in garment supports, and the object is to provide means whereby both trousers and drawers may be supported from the same belt.
The invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combination of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing :Figure l is a view in elevation showing my invention applied; Fig. 2 is an edge or side view; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view; and Fig. 4 is a rear View.
A represents the supporting hook, which is constructed of any suitable metal, but preferably made of sheet metal. The hook is composed of a back-plate 1, and at the base of the plate the metal extends upwardly almost parallel therewith, as at 4; then the end is bent downwardly, practically parallel with the upright member 4, forming the hook member 2. The hook member 2 is adapted to be received over the belt 6 which is placed around the waist of the wearer. Lugs 7, 7 are struck out of the back-plate 1. At the lower ends of the lugs, the inner surface is concave, and the outer surface of the back-plate made concave, as at 9, to conform to or form a passage for the pins 10, which are held between the back-plates and the lugs, and are adapted to be received in the concave portions. The pins 10 are adapted to be passed through the trousers, whereby they l are supported by the belt, the back-plate 1 being of sufficient strength to hold the trousers in proper shape. The strap 11 of the drawers is adapted to be received over the upper end of the back-plate 1, for forming a means of support therefor. The belt 6 therefore forms the support for both the drawers and the trousers. The drawers can be easily disconnected from the hook, and a the trousers easily removed from the belt.
WVith a structure of this character, the suspenders can be done'away with, and is an article which can be made at small cost.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. As an article of manufacture, a garment supporter comprising a single plate bent upon itself at one end to form a hook adapted to take over the supporting means, the main portion of the supporter having spring tongues struck therefrom, and fastening devices removably held on the supporter by said spring tongues.
2. As an article of manufacture, a garment supporter comprising a single plate bent upon itself at one end to form a hook adapted to take over the supporting means, the main portion of the supporter having spring tongues struck therefrom, and fastening devices removably held on the supporter by said spring tongues, the plate and tongues at the bases of the latter crimped in opposite directions to receive the fastening means.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH R. RANDLE.
