. Be it known that I, E. L. FOREMAN, of Rantoul, in the county of Chan'ipaign, and in the State of illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvement-s in Graders; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reierence being had to the accompanying drawings, and tothe letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention .consists in' the consti-notion and general arrangement of a graden as will be hereinafter fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertaius, to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in whieh- Figure 1 is a. plan View, and

Figure 2 a longitudinal vertical section.

'A A represent the two sidesof the. grader joined togetherat one end, and held at a suitable distance apart, at the other end, by means of a cross-bar, B, which extends beyond the-enter sides'ot' the sides A,

`'and is suitably braced to the saine.

At the ends Where the sides A, A 'are joined together, their-lower edges are cnt out, as seen in tig. 2,'

. for a certain distance, so as to leave an open space be tween the lower rear edges of the grader.

sides A A are provided, on their inner sides, along the lower edge, with a steel bar or cutter,

The cross-bar B is further braved by bars D l), ex-

tending to th'e sides A A, and between the front ends ot' said bar the tongue E is suitably attached.

At the rearend of the grader is a lever, F, secured under a. knee, Gr, and ou a bar, H, near the rear end, as seen in iig. 1, by the use of which lever the. grader is easily controlled.

Having thus fully described m y invention,

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is-

The combination and arrangement of the sides A A, with steel bars G C, cross-bar B, braces D l),

tongue E, lever F, knee G, and har H, all substan-v tially as shown and described.
